What grade do I deserve on my blogs?

What grade do I deserve on my blogs?

The grade that I deserve on my blogs is a 100. I deserve this because all of the blogs that are supposed to be completed are, and they are correct. My blogs have correct grammar and spelling, and no slang usage. All of blogs have the accurate answer and are unique. These are the reasons that I deserve a 100 on my blogs for Blog Check #2.

Favorite Earth Science Topics

Geology- Chemical & Mechanical Weathering is my favorite subject in geology. Chemical Weathering is the transformation of rock into one or more new compounds. Mechanical Weathering is when the rock changes, but keeps it's mineral composition.
Meteorology-Air Masses is my favorite subject in meteorology. The air masses include the mP,mT,cP,cT air masses.

Oceanography- My favorite topic in oceanography is about the ocean basin floor. The ocean basin floor has deep-ocean trenches , abyssal plains, seamounts, and guyots.
Astronomy- My favorite subject in astronomy is the Solar System. The Solar System has 8 planets, an Asteroid Belt, and a Kuiper Belt.

Greenhouse Effect

What is the greenhouse effect?

The greenhouse effect is when greenhouse gases trap heat and keep it in the lower atmosphere instead of rising up.

  • Carbon Dioxide

  • Methane

  • Nitrous Oxide

How are the greenhouse gases produced?

Pollution

How does the greenhouse effect impact our lives?

Global Warming

Is the greenhouse effect good or bad? Why?

Bad, b/c it can cause global warming and melt all the glaciers and holes in the ozone layer.

Astronomy Topics

1. Ultimate fate of the universe
The Ultimate Fate of the Universe gives a theory on how the universe will end. It says that the universe will undergo a theory called the Big Crunch. There are many other theories, but this one is the most believed in. The Big Crunch states that the universe will expand, then shrink into the size of a softball. The end of the universe is said to end billions of years from now.

2. Black Holes
Black Holes are objects so dense that nothing in the universe can escape it's gravitational pull. The black holes are located in many places, there is a black hole located in the center of the Milky Way. Black Holes can be known as the most violent and energetic objects in the universe. Black Holes form from collapsing stars and are tiny, and get larger as it sucks in objects around it.

3. Search for Extra-terrestrial Life (SETI)
The Search for Extra-Terrestial Life (SETI) is when scientists search for life outside of Earth. Scientists use radio telescopes to search for "aliens", and if a signal is picked up, that usually means a life form is out there. Scientists came to the conclusion that life could only survive on and Earth-like planet like Mars. Mars has been studied for years for life, but have found nothing.

4. Astrobiology
Astrobiology is the study of the living universe. This includes humans and possibly aliens. Astrobiology supports the evolution theory, which is the thought that humans evolved from apes. Astrobiology also states that life would most likely be found on Earth-like planets, and it also suspects that Mars could have previously had life forms on it, or could currentlty contain them. The study of astrobiology is some what like SETI, but studies all life forms.

5. Star Constellations

Star Constellations are groups of stars that form pictures. These constellations have been used to represent zodiac signs. Different countries like China and India have different ways in using the constellations. Constellations can be confusing and tricky to the eye, and hard to point out because of the millions of stars in the sky. The constellations are hard to identify for some people, because the stars must be precise if you want to see the picture correctly.

Factors that Effect Wind

1. What 3 factors effect wind?
  • Pressure Differences
  • Coriolis Effect
  • Friction

2. Which of the 3 do you think has the greatest effect? Why?

I think the Coriolis Effect has the greatest effect b/c the Coriolis Effect makes things more interesting.

3. What would happen if this factor (from #2) all of a sudden stopped? Remember to include details about what might happen in your response.

If the Coriolis Effect suddenly stopped, the weather would become boring and easy to predict, and the weather would be the same for a long time.

High:

  • Cirrus

  • Cirrostratus

  • Cirrocumulus

Cloud with Vertical Development:

  • Cumulus

2. Which clouds look the best to you?

3. What kind of weather does that type of cloud bring?

Humidity

Drilling blowouts can happen, and cause oil to spill on beaches.

How do you feel about it?

I feel that offshore drilling is acceptable, as long as it is not harming the enviorment or people.

Cleveland Activity

The Cleveland Volcano is located on Mt. Cleveland in the Aleutian Islands, Alaska. The Cleveland Volcano plume can be seen from a plane 17.5 nautical miles east-southest of the volcano at an altitude of 8,550 feet! Friday, January 18, 2008, there was a minor ash emission from the volcano, and Friday, February 8, 2008, the volcano erupted with a plume 20,000 feet above sea level. Once again in July, and for a week in August. The elevation of the great volcano is 1,730 m.(5,676 ft.). http://www.avo.alaska.edu/activity/Cleveland.php

Which is your favorite?

Which is your favorite?Geology, Oceanography, or Astronomy?

My favorite is Oceanography because I to be in the ocean and visit beaches. I also like Oceanography because I have previously learned aobut the ocean and found it to be very interesting. What I find interesting the how the ocean climate changes, and how the tides move. This is why I enjoy Oceanography, and hopefully I can go deeper into the science about Oceanography.

Which is your favorite map projection?

Which is your favorite map projection? Why?

My favorite map projection is the Gnomic Projection. The Gnomic Projection is my favorite because it is a little more creative than the other projections, and I think it is more interesting than the others. I also enjoy this map because it also seems easier and less confusing than some other maps, and seems to be very accurate, and looking at it from a flat surface is almost like looking at a map, though it is a globe.
